About Ama-shi (Ama City)
Features of Ama-shi
Ama-shi is a new city formed in 2010 by the merger of Shippo-cho, Miwa-cho, and Jimokuji-cho. It is located in the west of Nagoya, and it takes about 20 minutes by car from Nagoya Station to our headquaters (Miwa Factory). The city produced seven famous feudal lords from the Sengoku era to the Edo era, including Hachisuka Koroku Masakatsu and Fukushima Masanori. One of the specialties of the city is cloisonne enamel ware (Shippo-yaki, in Japanese), known as one of Japan's representative traditional crafts.
Shippo-yaki and Nagoya Electric Works
Shippo Art Village, a facitlity that features Shippo-yaki is located about a 10-minute walk to the south from our headquaters. It is a great place to go on holidays. Our company emblem is also made of Shippo-yaki, too!
